LA MESA, Calif. – RSM2 Contractors has completed a $30 million top-to-bottom complete renovation and re-launch of the historic Riviera Resort & Spa in Palm Springs (www.psriviera.com). As part of the Noble House Hotels & Resorts family, the Riviera received a complete makeover bringing back the original flair and style of the property, originally opened in the 1950s. The $30 million construction budget is just part of the property’s $100 million overall budget, which includes everything from linens and china to a new branding campaign.
RSM2 was retained as general contractor based on the firm’s past success with other Noble House Hotels & Resorts projects over the years. The re-launching of the Riviera Resort & Spa is the largest and most complex task RSM2 has undertaken, and team leaders are thrilled with the results. “We really wanted to ensure that we captured the ambiance, feel and history of the property and all its new branding elements to really tie the whole experience together for guests,” said Bob Samuel, co-owner of RSM2.
As the general contractor, RSM2 oversaw a team of various key sub-contractors, including A.O. Reed & Co., Best Interiors, Cement Cutting, Hazard Construction, Horizon Painting, Pacific Coast Commercial Flooring, Johnson, Barnes & Finch, Independent Landscape Services, Moran Canvas and Mission Valley Pools, among others. RSM2 owners Bob Samuel and Monte Mattson worked closely with project manager William Forero to keep all elements on budget and on time.
Encompassing more than 420 guest rooms and suites, two restaurants, four bars, 70,000 square feet of meeting space and 20,000 square feet of space in the new Spa Terre, the re-vamped Riviera Resort & Spa is an impressive expanse on 25 acres in Palm Springs. The RSM2 team was responsible for all aspects of construction on the entire project, including massive re-grading and paving, and worked in tandem with Rossi Architecture to make sure each detail was accurately translated from the plans to the finished product.
